Good afternoon! After taking a week off, produce pick up is sneaking up on me! The order form is finally ready. We will have several new items this week.
Organic Green Leaf and Organic Red Leaf Lettuces
Will be sold in pairs with 1 green leaf lettuce and 1 red leaf lettuce each
Sugar Baby Watermelons
Organic Russet Potatoes
Organic Fuji Apples
Green Bell Peppers
Meyer Lemons have been around since the 1920s and are thought to be a cross between a lemon and a tangerine. They are smaller and more round than a lemon, moderately acidic, but do have a slightly sweeter flavor. We have made “lemonade” with Meyer Lemons and found it to be slightly tangerine-y.
Because I am working with two produce suppliers this time around, the actual pick up date and time are up in the air. I will post as soon as I know.
My kids are selling organic kettle corn: $3/1 gallon ziploc bag.
Aren’t the popcorn kernels beautiful? Kettle corn ingredients are organic coconut oil, organic sugar, and organic red, white, and blue (heirloom) popcorn. The kernels pop in varying shades of white to slightly yellow. It is yummy, yummy, yummy!
A few particulars that you need to know before you place your order:
Orders are due Tuesday, June 21, at noon.
This week we will have 2 produce suppliers: Peralta Farms and River City Produce. River City Produce is labeled “Organic” on the order form. Peralta Farms provided the rest. Peralta Farms does not use chemical sprays or pesticides when growing their produce and use organic growing methods.
Although I have ordered all of the items on the order sheet, some of the items may not come in. Many different factors affect whether or not we are able to get certain items, such as weather, condition of the items when pick up, etc. When ordering produce, we have to adopt a patient, wait-and-see attitude. 🙂
All prices are estimates. I never really know how much something will end up costing us until I get it home and sorted out. Items from Peralta Farms come in varying quantities, although they are usually in the ballpark of what I am expecting. Prices from our second supplier, River City Produce, will tend to fluctuate. I won’t know the final price until I pick up our produce.
I distribute items in the order of first come, first served. Once I get produce items home, I sort them and fill orders in the order they were received. You are only charged for what you receive. My kids do occasionally help me sort. If you suspect a discrepancy, let me know.
If you are interested in buying raw milk for your family, send an email to mckmomma at att dot net. I will be buying milk for my family this week and would love to share where I am buying it from with you.
Having said all of that, you can place your orders here.
