Guess what! I’m going back to college! I start on Monday, July 11th. In that spirit, I am SIMPLIFYING things! Yes, SIMPLIFYING. I know that seems contradictory to my personality, but I’m going to give it whirl. 🙂
48 hour order window! Orders due tomorrow, Sunday, July 10th. NO EXCEPTIONS. I have to place our River City Produce order first thing Monday morning in order for it to come in in time.
All prices are fairly close to what I am paying suppliers for our produce. I rounded up 10 cents per pound to account for spoilage. For example, we lost 6 heads of lettuce due to shipping from California. We lost 1/4 of the case of lemons in our last order. And, squash and cucumbers tend to have at least a few fuzzies in the crate.
Everyone will pay a $5 order fee. We need a minimum of 20 orders for this order to work. To keep this as transparent as possible: $5 order fee X 20 orders = $100. That $100 will pay for the group’s expenses, such as gas to pick up, ice, ink, paper, tape, batteries, etc. Any extra will be go towards my personal produce order in return for setting up, picking up, sorting, and delivery.
Pick up is Friday, July 15th, at First Baptist Church in Floresville, from 3-5 pm. If something changes, I will contact you via text or FB PM. Make sure and note your preference on the order form. I know the fluctuating pick up times can be inconvenient. Here’s why the pick up time could change: After picking up eggs in Stockdale on Thursday night, I am starting Friday off by picking up in Devine first thing in the morning, then picking up in Hondo, then back to Floresville to drop off (I will be out of space in my van). Next, I am heading to San Antonio to pick up the last of our order. After returning to my home in Floresville to sort, I will load up and take everything to First Baptist Church Floresville for pick up. My hope is to actually be ready by 2 pm, but I don’t want to make a promise that I cannot keep. I will be driving roughly 200 miles with 8 kids. ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN. 🙂
My family attends a class in San Antonio on Friday nights at 6:30 pm. Please be prompt in picking up your order so that we can get to our class on time.
I hope my transparency helps. I have noticed orders dwindling as prices have gone up and pick up times have varied. I apologize for the chaos as I was learning the ropes and figuring out what worked for our group. Next year, this will be easy. I will have figured out which produce items we like, what tends to spoil, which supplier is best for which item, the best way to get it all picked up, how to handle the money, etc. I am very sorry for the inconveniences that I have caused you guys with both my mistakes and things I couldn’t help (such as drastically increased prices on organic items from River City). I am confident that from this point forward, things will be fairly straightforward and much easier.
Please share this post with anyone that could be interested. Remember, the more people we have order, the better selection, and more orders that can be fully filled. Also, don’t forget that orders are filled in the order they are received, meaning, if you are one of the last people to order, and cases have already been filled, it’s likely that you might not receive some of your items.
Place your order here.
Much love and happy ordering!
