Are you local to Floresville, Texas?
Did you know the Little Red Farm Stand hosts a members only food group?
When you join our private, members only group, you get exclusive access to reduced prices for all of our food and household buys, including locally grown produce to grassfed and free range meats, organic pastas/beans/rice, and organic and natural household items such as Dr. Bronner’s Soaps.
Here’s how membership works:
Simply send in your Registration Fee and Deposit, then watch the blog or Facebook page for available group buys. Prices listed for group buy will include shipping to our pick up point, applicable sales taxes, etc. You will see buys for items like farmers market produce (no pesticides and no chemicals used), organic produce, gluten free oats, organic gluten free oats, organic dry beans, organic spices, organic pasta, organic rice, sucanat, Himalayan salt, Kerrygold butters and cheeses, GMO free/Soy Free eggs and pastured eggs.
$10 Annual Registration Fee
The $10 annual registration fee will cover material costs such as bins, coolers, and ice.
$20 Minimum Deposit
Your deposit covers your purchases. I have set up a bank account separate from my personal accounts for group purchases. Because I have to pay for our purchases when I pick them up, the balance in this account needs to be sufficient to cover them. Your deposits are what funds that account. You must have enough in your personal deposit to fund any purchases you plan to make. The deposit is refundable upon leaving the group.
Occasionally, a small order fee will be added on to your order. This is to cover any extra expenses I incur picking up our orders.
How to Place An Order
Mail your registration fee and deposit to Darlene McKeen, 100 CR 128, Floresville, TX 78114 or PayPal email@example.com. Make sure and include your phone number and email address in the comments section of either your check, money order, or PayPal payment.
Available items and their prices are listed down the left side of our order spreadsheet. Add your name at the top in the next column open (please do not delete or move anyone or change the formulas). Fill in the quantity you are wanting in the row beside the item name (in the same column as your name). Your estimated total will be shown at the of your column. Your order is automatically saved. Please keep in mind that we order full cases only. Therefore, not all of your items may be ordered.
After the order period, I will look over the orders and order the items that have made full cases. For example, apples come in 40 lb. cases. If my family orders 10 lb. and 6 other families order 5 lbs. each, then we have enough orders to fill that case. If we don’t have enough orders, that individual item may not be ordered. Using the example above, if a 7th family orders 5 lb. of apples, their apple order will not be filled because, as a group, we didn’t order enough to justify ordering a second case of apples.
Because I fill orders first come first served, getting your order in early makes it more likely that all of you order’s items will be filled. Upon pick up, you will pay only for the items received.
Picking Up Your Orders
Most of our pick ups will take place on Thursdays, from 2-8 pm. When you arrive, your order will be ready for you in a plastic bin with your name on it. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN BASKET OR BIN TO TRANSPORT YOUR ORDER HOME. GROUP BINS STAY HERE.
There is an additional drop point on Thursday afternoons/evenings in the Lytle/Natalia area.
We will do our best to give you great quality produce. When we pick up from the supplier, we do inspect the overall quality of each case, but it is impractical to inspect each individual item when you are ordering in 30-50 lb. quantities. You will not be able to reject items in your basket. Once ordered, they are yours. Because we are not ordering extras, we are unable to substitute or exchange items. If, in spite of our best efforts, spoilage is found, we will attempt to mitigate any spoilage found evenly among all members of the co op. This is a chance you take when buying produce wholesale or in bulk.
Sometimes we order 2nd quality produce (for example, avocados with scars on the outside, but the meat is still fine) in order to get the best prices.
Because produce is stored outside, you will want to pick up as soon as you can on really hot or really cold days.
You will occasionally be required to pay up front for a buy, such as our upcoming grassfed beef buy.
What am I getting out of this?
Hopefully, most of my items will end up being free. Buys take a lot of time and effort to put together. I will do my best to keep prices BELOW what you would pay at the store. After all, that’s why you would want to buy what Little Red Farm Stand has to offer, right? Prices will include shipping to my home, gas for me to go pick up items ordered, applicable sales taxes, and any supplies that will be needed to split orders up. We are no longer charging order fees for every order.
Whoo! If you’re still reading this, then get your deposit check in the mail and let’s place our first order.
