Welcome to the Little Red Farm Stand, my own little corner of the bloggy world. Since starting the Little Red Farm Stand to document my family’s journey back to healthy living, quite a bit has changed in our lives.
I have always dabbled in healthy eating. A decade ago, I was grinding my own grain and making homemade bread for my husband and 4 children. Since then, I’ve learned how to make bone broth, kombucha, and refrigerator pickles, among so many other things. We’ve had seasons in life when we’ve eaten only organic food and eliminated almost all the chemicals from our home. We’ve had seasons where the kids were lucky to get canned green beans with their corn dogs for dinner. Our life came to a screeching halt 3 years ago, when, on a hunch, I had the kids tested for food allergies. Fast forward to the present and we are an exhausted family of 10 with multiple food allergies, including wheat, dairy, soy, corn, egg, sesame, and peanut allergies.
I wish I could say that after dealing with my family’s food allergies for the last 3 years I’m a pro, but I’m not. My kids can tell you story after story of my epic fails. On the other hand, we are certainly super close as a family, walking out this crazy journey together. We’re the first to admit that we fail, sometimes daily, and not just in the food allergy realm.
Since embarking on this blogging journey last year, I realized that healthier living is about more than just what you eat and what chemicals you use in your home. Healthy living means pursuing both a physically AND emotionally healthy you (spiritually, too!). That’s where we are as a family: trying to find the balance between physical and emotional health, with a little chocolate thrown in for good measure.
